48 Hours in Miami
Two days is enough if you spend them in the right order. Here is how we structure a short Miami stay.
Day one — land, settle, drive
Arrive into MIA and go straight to the water side of the city. Drop bags, then take the causeway east with the windows down. Late lunch in Sunset Harbour, an hour on the sand, then a shower and a table somewhere loud enough to feel like a Friday. Miami rewards people who move early on the first day and slowly on the second.
Night one — dinner, then the room
Book dinner for 9pm rather than 7pm; the city eats late and the rooms only fill after ten. Keep a car or chauffeur on hand so the group can move between Wynwood, Brickell and South Beach without waiting on rides at 2am.
Day two — the water
The single best use of a full Miami day is a boat. Leave the marina before noon, anchor at a sandbar, eat on board, and come back with the skyline lighting up behind you. Nothing else in the city photographs like it.
Closing the trip
Leave the last evening unplanned. Two days in, you will know whether you want a quiet dinner in the Grove or one more night out on Collins. Tell your concierge that morning and it gets handled.
